Software Engineering Intern

Position Description

 

GovieRates (A W2 Group Company) is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our product development team. This internship offers the opportunity to work on GovieRates Time (GT Time), a cloud-based workforce management and timekeeping platform built specifically for government contractors.

The selected intern will work alongside our software development and product leadership teams to design, build, and enhance enterprise software used by real customers. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience developing commercial SaaS applications using modern technologies while contributing to features that directly impact product growth and customer success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance front-end features for the GovieRates Time (GT Time) platform.
  • Assist with implementing and testing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) throughout the application.
  • Design and develop dashboards, reports, and user interface components.
  • Integrate front-end components with RESTful APIs.
  • Test, debug, and improve software performance and usability.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, and team collaboration.
  • Document technical solutions and assist with quality assurance testing.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and modern web development concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire to learn new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with React or Next.js.
  • Familiarity with Java or Spring Boot.
  • Experience using Git or GitHub.
  • Understanding of REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of MongoDB or SQL databases.
  • Personal, academic, or open-source software development projects.
