Program Coordinator

Program Coordinator: Workforce Development in Emerging Technologies

  • Location: Health Tech Alley Office at the Maryland Innovation Center, Columbia, Maryland (hybrid; in‑office presence required)
  • Hours: 15-20 hours per week
  • Duration: 3–6 months
  • Compensation: $20–$25 per hour, depending on qualifications and fit for role
  • Eligibility: For upper‑level undergraduate or master’s students (Maryland‑based)

About the Role

We’re seeking a motivated Intern to coordinate a pre‑apprenticeship program designed to prepare high school and community college students for entry‑level roles with career mobility in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, solar energy, and agriculture technology.

This is a unique role in an entrepreneurial setting, ideal for someone who understands how emerging technologies are reshaping the workforce and has a strong interest in education, training, organizational design, human resources, and skilling/upskilling initiatives. You’ll gain leadership and project management experience while supporting learners and collaborating with employers and community partners to build equitable career pathways.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate pre‑apprenticeship schedules, training sessions, and employer site visits.
  • Support students with professional development, workplace readiness, and career exploration.
  • Manage projects by tracking milestones, deliverables, and deadlines to ensure smooth program operations.
  • Prepare and deliver status reports for leadership, employers, and community partners.
  • Lead program communications, including updates to participants, employers, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with employers, schools, government agencies and nonprofit partners to strengthen program design.
  • Assist in developing outreach materials and recruitment campaigns.
  • Track program outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current upperclassman or graduate student in education, workforce development, HR, organizational design, technology,  business or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and their impact on the future of work.
  • Interest in education, training, and program development.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and accessible learning.
  • Experience in mentoring, program coordination, or community engagement is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration tools such as Slack and Notion.
